ToolsAid Typing (typing.toolsaid.com) is a free typing tutor. This page explains what data is used when you visit the site.
What you type
The text you type in the typing area is processed in your browser. It is not sent to our servers or to Google Analytics.
Information saved on your device
Your best scores, test history, per-key typing statistics, finished lessons, sound setting and dark or light mode choice are saved in your own browser using local storage (keys ts-data and ts-theme). This data stays on your device. You can delete it with the “Reset all saved data” button on the Progress tab or by clearing your browser data.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used, for example how many tests are finished and the typical WPM. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type. It does not receive the text you type. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads through Google AdSense to keep this tool free. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, or learn more at aboutads.info. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent through a consent message before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.
Third-party services
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, analytics from Google Analytics and ads from Google AdSense. These services may receive your IP address and browser information when your browser requests their files. They are subject to their own privacy policies.
Children
ToolsAid Typing is a general audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not ask for names, emails or accounts. The optional name on the certificate is drawn in your browser and is never sent to us.
