About ToolsAid Typing

ToolsAid Typing is a free typing tutor. Learn touch typing from the home row, practice with words and sentences, and measure your speed with a 30 second, 1 minute, 3 minute or 5 minute typing test.

Why we built it

Most typing sites are slow, crowded with ads or ask you to sign up. ToolsAid Typing is built to be fast and simple. Open the page, click the text and type.

What you get

• 11 touch typing lessons with a finger guide
• Practice with words, sentences, weak keys and your own text
• Typing tests in four lengths, with WPM, accuracy, raw WPM and a consistency score
• A progress page with history, streak and weak keys
• A printable certificate for your test result

How we measure speed

Words per minute (WPM) counts every 5 correct characters as one word. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were correct. Raw WPM counts all keystrokes. Results are self-timed in your browser and are a practice tool, not an official certification.

Privacy first

The text you type stays in your browser. Your scores and progress are saved on your own device. Read the privacy policy for details.

How it is paid for
